How Does Tirzepatide Work for Weight Loss?

Tirzepatide works on 2 hormones that are released after eating. Tirzepatide works by mimicking their effects. This includes telling the pancreas to release insulin after eating and signaling the liver to lower the amount of glucose it’s making. These effects help you feel full, slow down digestion, and lower blood sugar. It signals to the brain that you are full, so you eat less. By slowing the movement of food through your stomach, you will feel full longer. This medication tends to work better than semaglutide in some patients. It can also be helpful to switch to this medication if you are having a long plateau with semaglutide. This medication is more costly than semaglutide.
