HALO™

No matter how careful we are about taking care of our skin, aging and environmental damage eventually take their toll. Fine lines, roughness, and discoloration dull our complexion’s dazzle and keep us from feeling our best in our skin. But there’s hope! You can give your face and body a fresh start with HALO laser skin resurfacing, available at our Ankeny clinic and spa near Des Moines, IA.

FDA-approved HALO is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser. It uses two distinct laser wavelengths to give you the dramatic results of traditional laser resurfacing, minus the discomfort and downtime.

How Does HALO Work?

HALO resurfaces the skin using two different laser wavelengths:

  • Ablative: This wavelength removes the outermost layer of your skin and encourages regenerative growth. These lasers deliver dramatic results, but they traditionally involve more downtime.
  • Non-ablative: This gentler wavelength works deeper in the skin, heating the underlying tissues to stimulate new collagen production.

Combining these wavelengths minimizes your recovery time while maximizing your rejuvenating results.

What Does HALO Treat?

HALO treats many different signs of aging on the face and body, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Acne scars
  • Discoloration
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven tone and texture

What Is It Like To Have a HALO Treatment Done?

Most people describe HALO treatments as more comfortable than other laser skin resurfacing treatments. We’ll start by applying a topical anesthetic to make sure you stay comfortable from start to finish. Your provider will then guide the handpiece over your treated area to deliver even resurfacing. While HALO’s integrated cooling system will cool your skin, it’s normal to feel some heat that lasts 1-2 hours. We do have topical treatments, including Velez cooling masks, that are available for excessive heat following your treatment. We also have ProNox, a short acting laughing gas, that can help those patients that are nervous.

What Is Recovery Like After a HALO Treatment?

You can expect to have some redness and sensitivity in your skin for a couple of days, followed by a bronzed appearance and some flaking. Most people see initial results within a week, and their glow continues to improve as collagen production increases over the next few weeks and even months. We can prescribe medications for cold sores, possible breakouts and swelling if needed. Your recovery will be much shorter if you use medical grade skincare prior to and after the laser treatments.

How Many HALO Treatments Will I Need?

Many people are happy with their results after just 1 or 2 sessions, but you may need more depending on your concerns and goals. HALO is customizable, meaning you can choose between a short series of aggressive treatments or a longer series of gentler, quicker recovery sessions. You and your provider will work together to create your own customized treatment plan.

How Much Does HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

The price of HALO treatments at our Des Moines-area clinic and spa varies from person to person, depending on the size of your treatment area and the number of sessions needed. We’ll provide you with a personalized estimate at your consultation so you know what to expect in terms of pricing. Many times we stack laser treatments on the same day, so that you can have one shorter recovery period, and save money on additional treatments.
